I felt once more how simple and frugal a thing is happiness: a glass of wine, a roast chestnut, a wretched little brazier, the sound of the sea. Nothing else. ~ Nikos Kazantzakis

Love can still be love without flowers and chocolates. 🙂
As we all know, Valentine’s Day is tomorrow so I thought I would weigh in with some opinions about the holiday. First off, I believe that Valentine’s Day has lost its true meaning. Just like Christmas or Easter, it has simply become an overcommercialized holiday meant for companies to make money off what should just be a day of genuine love. Chocolates and gifts and flowers can’t buy love. People who shell out $100 plus on Valentine’s Day are simply insane.
We have all heard the cliche “treat your partner like every day is Valentine’s Day.” Sadly this does not happen. There shouldn’t be one day where you all of a sudden treat your partner like they are special. That should happen every day. Couples should also not stress out over what gifts they get each other or be upset if they don’t receive the “perfect” gift. You can have…

Sonnet LXVI (from Pablo Neruda’s 100 Sonnets of Love)
“Cien Sonetos de Amor”
I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you, from waiting to not waiting for you
my heart moves from the cold into the fire. I love you only because it’s you
I love; I hate you no end, and hating you
bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
is that I do not see you but love you blindly.
Maybe the *February light will consume my heart with its cruel
ray, stealing my key to true calm.
In this part of the story I am the one who dies,
the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
because I love you, Love, in fire and blood.
*original month is January
What’s the good of living if you don’t try a few things. ~ Charles M. Schulz
February 13, 2000: A day after creator Charles M. Schulz died, newspapers ran the last original “Peanuts” strip. Charlie Brown never got to kick the football. Good grief.
Dear January, how is February? Please tell March that April said May will come before June, I heard that July is getting married in August, how about September and her kids? Please send my greeting to October and don’t forget to tell November that all our friends reading this will end December in happy mode.
We all live with the objective of being happy, our lives are all different and yet the same. ~ Anne Frank

For the love of reading, I always find time checking on Patty’s blog in between office breaks. I guess every person who has a passion for reading blogs will agree to her. My good friend Karen actually told me that Patty is one of her favorite bloggers, especially her ‘travelogs’. Hmmm, her name sounds familiar I just couldn’t remember where (maybe on TV) I last saw her or wonder if she writes columns on PDI Lifestyle pages, something to that sense? Until I checked her website, yes, I know her, but wasn’t aware of her blog works. Indeed, everything in her blog resonates her grand yet simple life. She is a high-spirited blogger and the simple appearance of her site is what I like most because it reflects her personality.
Aside from books, I love exploring new authors online as well and Mrs. Laurel-Filart is one of them. There, let me share with you one of her recent entries posted >> Feb 11. I love stories about kick-ass Daddies so I’m excited to share her joy for having a father as cool as the Rock Star up there. 🙂 Enjoy reading!
Shout out to Patty’s Dad: Belated happy birthday, Sir! I want to hug you ’cause you’re a kind and loving man like my Dad! Salute!
Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers. ~ Isaac Asimov
Yes, I prefer to be the fat cat today. No, stay away from me, Scruples!
Hopeful of a win from the comeback man (Rafa) and his doubles partner (Pico) in Vina del Mar final today, *sobs*, I woke up to a sad news instead. But on a positive note, I am more than glad to see the man finally back on court, especially on his favorite surface. There’s just this thought that keeps on breaking my heart ’cause most of the Rafa haters tagged the VDM final as the match of Zeballos‘ life and that he somehow managed to “Rosol Nadal”. Grrrrrr! Not only that, the Z guy made history (oh well, it’s all because of Rafa!) for being the first left-handed player to defeat Nadal on red clay! Hooray Horacio! Who would love a Monday like this? Who cares about the Grammys happening right about now? Hmp! I am going to cry anyway so writing might do some good. No one is guaranteed a wonderful Monday, you see, I can’t even accept the fact that Coldplay did not get a Grammy award this year. This is too much to bear. *sigh*
Okay, I’m over reacting. I’m not getting too carried away just yet.
Anyway, I won’t let the evil Monday suck the life out of me today. Of course there’s Manchester United to fill in. The victory over Everton (2-0) courtesy of goals from Sir Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie is sweeter than Valentine’s day. With only 12 games to play, MUFC is undoubtedly well positioned in the Premier League race. Also, come 13th of the month, the football world will be under pressure again as Real Madrid takes on Manchester United in the most awaited Champions League. It’s such a big match the world is waiting for!
Sad no more! *SMILES*
